* ABSTRACT | |||||||
We have studied the anisotropies of the London penetration depth and the upper critical field, which were obtained from reversible magnetization measurements. The strong temperature dependence of the anisotropy of the upper critical field and the opposite tendency of the anisotropy of the penetration depth can be well explained within the theory of two-gap superconductivity in MgB2. We have also studied the peak effect by electrical transport measurements and observed interesting phenomena, such as hysteresis, a scaling relation in I-V curves, and 2-level random telegraph noise with a non-Gaussian distribution in zero-field-cooled (ZFC) state and a relaxation of field-cooled (FC) state to ZFC state. The character of this relaxation was found to be intimately linked with the nature of ZFC state. The measured relaxation time showed a systematic variation with the applied current and the field. |
