* ABSTRACT | |||||||
We investigate the ground state phase diagram of the half-filled ionic Hubbard model in infinite dimensions, using dynamical mean-field theory. The Hamiltonian has a staggered ionic potential which makes the system band insulator at half filling in noninteracting limit. By turning on the on-site repulsive interaction U, the band insulator becomes metal at . Obtaining the density of states, we find that the metallic region exists in the finite region of and changes into Mott insulator for We discuss the difference between our phase diagram and that of the previous works. |
