* ABSTRACT
A nonlinear multigrid technique, named the full approximation storage(FAS) scheme, is applied to the Kohnham equations in solids. The problem is traditionally solved through a self-consistent loop, within each loop an eigenvalue problem is repeated. In the new method, the approximate solution is manipulated on multiscale grids, especially, the coarse grid equation defined according to FAS is solved to correct the error. So, the eigen value problem, which is often the most time-consuming part, need to be solved only once.
