I will talk about the microstates of BPS black holes in AdS5 from the CFT4 dual. We will see that the index of 4d N=4 Yang-Mills theory with U(N) gauge group clearly shows a rapid growth of the BPS states, which statistically accounts for the black hole entropy. I will clarify this point and other related ideas, dealing with the complex saddle points and the oscillating signs in the index, by numerically studying the index up to U(6). Then, I will explain the explicit construction of the local BPS operators contributing to the index in the cohomological set-up.
