    Scientific Overview
    Local determinations of the Hubble constant based on Cepheids/Type Ia Supernovae and strongly lensed quasars in 2019 have strengthened the case for new physics beyond the flat Lambda-CDM cosmological model. In tandem the Swampland program in string theory is providing motivation for new physics from the theoretical perspective. Through this sereis, we bring together international and local experts to review existing tensions and discuss the potentially pressing case for new physics.
