From Incheon Int’l Airport to POSTECH

Method (1) by Limousine Bus

Once you arrive at Pohang Intercity Bus Terminal, you best take a taxi to get to POSTECH directly. Then you show attached map of POSTECH or Korean expression to the taxi driver. The taxi fare to the POSTECH costs about KRW4,000 and it takes approximately 10 minutes.

Method (2-1) by Airplane (Through Gimpo airport)

After you arrive at Inchon Int’l airport, you should move to Gimpo airport (30-40 min away) to take a domestic flight.

In order to get to Gimpo airport, you can take a Limousine or Airport-railroad from Incheon Airport.

- Gimpo airport -> Pohang airport: 5 flights per day. Approximately 30 minutes from Pohang airport to POSTECH by taxi and its cost is about KRW12,000.

**Flights between Seoul and Pohang may be cancelled under severe weather conditions

- Gimpo airport -> Gimhae (Busan) airport ->Pohang: 28 flights (7:00-20:30) per day. Approximately 2 hours from Gimhae(Busan) airport to POSTECH by taxi and it costs about KRW120,000.

At Gimhae Int’l Airport, Limousine to Pohang starts every 1 hour from 07:35 to 20:35 and 21:45 for the last bus. It takes 2 hours and costs KRW11,000. Please take a taxi to get POSTECH from Pohang Intercity Bus Terminal. It takes about 10 minutes and the fare is about KRW 4,000.

- Gimpo airport -> Ulsan airport ->Pohang: 7 flights at 8:00, 10:00, 14:10, 16:00, 18:40, 19:30 (Korean Air) &16:55(Asiana) per day. Approximately 1.5 hours from Ulsan airport to POSTECH by taxi and its cost is about KRW80,000.

Method (2-2) by Airplane (From Incheon airport to Daegu or Gimhae(Busan) airport)

- Incheon Airport -> Daegu airport-> Pohang: 2 flights at 8:30 &19:20 (Korean Air) per day. Approximately 1 hours from Daegu airport to POSTECH by taxi and its cost is about KRW80,000.

- Incheon Airport -> Gimhae (Busan) airport-> Pohang: 3 flights at 7:25 (Asiana), 8:50 &20:40 (Korean Air). Approximately 2 hours from Gimhae(Busan) airport to POSTECH by taxi and it cost is about KRW120,000.

At Gimhae Int’l Airport, Limousine to Pohang starts every 1 hour from 07:35 to 20:35 and 21:45 for the last bus. It takes 2 hours and costs KRW11,000. Please take a taxi to get POSTECH from Pohang Intercity Bus Terminal. It takes about 10 minutes and the fare is about KRW 4,000.

Method (3) by Train

- Incheon Int’l Airport → Seoul Station → Singyeongju Station→ Pohang Intercity Bus Terminal

: In order to go to the Seoul Station, please take a Limousine or Airport-railroad from Incheon Airport.

From the Seoul Station, you can go to Singyeongju station by KTX (Korea Train Express). To check the KTX timetable, please visit http://info.korail.com/2007/eng/eng_index.jsp

And then take a Limousine Bus to Pohang Intercity Bus Terminal at the Singyeongju Station. Please see the timetable for limousine as below. It takes around 40 min. and costs KRW 5,000.

Once you arrive at Pohang Intercity Bus Terminal, you best take a taxi to get to POSTECH campus. Then you show attached map of POSTECH or Korean expression to the taxi driver. The taxi fare to the POSTECH costs about KRW4,000 and it takes approximately 10 minutes.

Detailed Instruction If You Choose This Option:

One of the fastest and most convenient ways to get to Pohang and APCTP is by using KTX fast trains to Singyeongju and change to a shuttle bus to Pohang.

 

1.     From Incheon Airport or Gimpo Airport one can get Airport Railroad Express (AREX) subway to Seoul Station where KTX Seoul station is also located. AREX takes about 43 minutes to reach to Seoul station.

2.    From Seoul station one should get a KTX train to Singyeongju. These KTX trains have a final destination at Busan so to find your departure train and platform please check the train number.  Sometimes and in particular in the weekends there might be no ticket available if one wants to purchase it just before the departure so it is recommended to book the KTX tickets in advance:

go to “booking” section and purchase your ticket to Singyeongju. If you are traveling from abroad you should get your ticket from Seoul Station.

 

Please note that depends on your arrival time in Incheon Airport it may take you up to an hour to pass the custom and get your luggage.  You may have to wait also for about half an hour to get the AREX trains (its  also about 10 minutes walk to get to AREX platform). Considering the 43 minutes from Incheon to Seoul station, one should not book the KTX trains for less than 90 minutes to 2 hours after the arrival time in Incheon. 

 

 

3. When you get the KTX from Seoul station be careful not to miss the Singyeongju station as the train stops there only for a very short time. In fact these are KTX trains rooted to Busan so not so many people leave the train at Singyeongju. The arrival time at your station, Singyeongju, would be written in your ticket and it is quite precise (\pm 3 minutes) so you can know when you should expect to leave the train. It takes usually about 2 hours and 10 minutes from Seoul to Singyeongju.

4. When you leave the train and go down stairs to the station main hall pass the main exit of the Singyeongju station and at the gate just walk straight forward (Not to the left and Not to the right). After going down the steps and walk for about 30 meters, there is a kiosk which sell tickets to Pohang and a bus would be waiting there. Usually many passenger walks in that direction. Tickets are 5000 won. If you arrive late, kiosk is closed and the driver in the bus sells the tickets directly. Please keep all your receipts. Bus usually leaves after 10-15 minutes of arrival of each KTX so better not to wander around and get to the bus as soon as you get to Singyeongju. You better have some Korean won in cash. You can change in the airport in Incheon and their fairs are usually good. 

5. It will take between 35-50 minutes to Pohang (depends on the traffic) bus station. There you can take a taxi to POSTECH and ask them to get you to POSCO International Center (PIC) or your hotel. Most taxi drivers know all these destinations and you can show them the map too. There is a file attached to this page "Useful Korean Expression" that you can show the appropriate part to the driver.

 

From Busan (Gimhae Int’l Airport) to POSTECH
