June 25 (Mon), 2018 ~ June 27 (Wed), 2018 Scope
The rapid recent development of experimental tools for the control, manipulation and observation of processes on the nano-scale has also triggered the curiosity on the side of theory and has lead to the emergence of so-called stochastic and quantum thermodynamics. These novel fields have been very active but also controversial, in particular when it comes to apply familiar macroscopic notions as work and heat to situations when thermal or quantum fluctuations dominate the dynamics. The investigations of nano-engines ranging from biological motors to single electron engines are of central interest both in view of applied issues and of basic research. This workshop is intended to provide a general understanding of the subject and to introduce the most recent research results. Topics to be covered are motors in bio-molecular systems, quantum motors, classical/quantum heat engines and their fundamental limits. Organizers Peter Talkner (University of Augsburg, Germany) Juyeon Yi (PNU, Korea) Hyunggyu Park (KIAS, Korea) Yong Woon Kim (Chair, KAIST, Korea) Invited Speakers Konstantin Dorfman (East China Normal University, China) Ralf Eichhorn (Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, Sweden) Nicolai Friis (Austrian Academy of Sciences, Austria) Jiangbin Gong (NUS, Singapore) Himangshu Prabal Goswami (MPI dresden, Germany) Changbong Hyeon (KIAS, Korea) Chulan Kwon (Myungji University, Korea) Hyuk Kyu Pak (UNIST, Korea) Peter Samuelsson (Lund University, Sweden) Marco Schiro (CEA, France) Naoto Shiraishi (Keio University, Japan) Peter Talkner (University of Augsburg, Germany) Hiroyasu Tajima (University of Electro-Communications, Japan) Gentaro Watanabe (Zheijiang University, China) Contact Yong Woon Kim (y.w.kim@kaist.ac.kr) Hosts Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics BK21plus Center for Convergent Nanoscience Korea Institute for Advanced Study |
