Leaders of Independent Junior
Research Group (JRG) 2020
The Asia Pacific
Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP) opens a few positions for leaders of
Independent Junior Research Group (JRG) in theoretical physics and related
fields. The APCTP (https://www.apctp.org), founded in 1996, is a non-governmental
organization aiming for an international center dedicated to excellence in
research and the training of young scientists in the Asia-Pacific region.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The aim of these
positions is to strengthen the research capacity of the Center by forming new
JRGs. The Center has sixteen member countries and forms a research network center
of the Asia Pacific region in the field of theoretical physics through various
academic activities. We encourage applications in the area of theoretical
physics, including but not limited to astrophysics, condensed matter physics,
nuclear/hadron physics, particle physics, string theory, and statistical
physics. Current JRGs at the Center can be found at the following link at https://www.apctp.org/sub02/index44.php?mcode=44. Each JRG leader is well
ensured academic independence and encouraged to build his/her own research
group. Leaders are also expected to promote and take advantage of the
connection with other research institutions in the Asia Pacific region and
beyond.
REMUNERATION
Funding is initially
available for three years, renewable up to two additional years depending on
the research performance and the availability of resources for the program. An
annual salary, including severance pay, will start from KRW 65,000,000
depending on research experience and qualification. In addition to the salary, a
rent-free house, personal office space, and research grant of KRW 80,000,000
per year along with part of relocation costs are provided. The grant can be
used for hiring postdoctoral fellows and students, as well as for covering
research activities. The starting date is expected to be April 1, 2020, but is
