| Due to its wide use in many industrial processes, granular material (GM) has been studied in engineering communities for more than hundred years. The physics of GM, on the other hand, is only a dozen years old. The interests of physics community in GM is mainly due to the fact that GM shows many interesting behaviors. In this talk, a brief history of the physics of GM will be given. Current problems will be classified, and the status of a few outstanding problems will be discussed. |
