* ABSTRACT | |||||||
Non-Fermi liquid behaviors in high Tc Cuprates and heavy fermion materials beg new paradigm for strongly correlated electron systems. It has been recognized that understanding correlated insulators would be the first step towards the goal. I will review old and new ideas of quantum spin liquid and other paramagnetic phases in Mott insulators. I will explain how some of these ideas can be usefully applied to magnetic systems on geometrically frustrated lattices. Emergence of gauge field and fractionalized excitations in spin liquid phases and at certain quantum critical point will be discussed. |
