* ABSTRACT | |||||||
The interaction of physics and biology has a long history. With biology reaching the molecular level since the 1950s physics and physicists have been playing more role in understanding life phenomena and living matter. Various degrees of coarse-graining must be carried out in describing the Nature. After a brief introduction to some basic biological notions we shall touch on a few topics on different levels of description, including examples from our own recent work that enter the fields of bioinformatics and genomics. The following references are given not for their technical details but rather to remind the physics and mathematics background. |
