* ABSTRACT | |||||||
1D systems with more than nearest neighbor interactions are equivalent to coupled 1D chains with nearest neighbor interactions, and are known to have ordered phases at absolute zero. We will develop EPT for such systems with comparison with other many-body methods such as bosonization and numerical renormalization group, considering a spin 1/2 zigzag chain as a prototype. We will discuss among others, a complete phase diagram for the entire parameter space along the Lifshitz line, point out a problem of bosonization method, as well as superiority of EPT to DMRG (density matrix renormalization group) and its representative variant TEBD (time evolving block decimation). |
