| I will discuss the notion of integrable and exactly solvable models, which are similar but not the same. The Hitchin system provides a symplectic quotient description of a large family of integrable systems. This includes many physically-relevant models such as the Calogero-Moser model and the Hubbard model. Gauge theory predicts the exact solution of these models.
